Women's Day Celebration

Posted 8/16/2018

Bertharry English Private School hosted a function on Women's Day - 8th August 2018 under the Theme #TotalShutDownAgainstGenderBasedViolence# which was organised in the form of Colour Run. On this particular day students of Bertharry including with staff members were requested to dress up in their old clothes so that they should participate in the color run.

The function was organised by Bertharry Fundraising Committee and the aim was to speak out on the Abuse that is taking place in South Africa in almost everyday of our life. The students were sending the message to the community that enough is enough and something has to be done not especially by the government but also the community at large should also take part in making this abuse stop.

As Bertharry English Private School we say enough is enough "Wathinta abafazi, wathinta imbokodo". Let us learn to respect our women

Human Rights Day Celebrations

Bertharry English Private School hosted the Human Rights Day at the school premises as they were commemorating what took place in 1960 at Sharpeville. Most of the learners took part whereby they were allowed to dress their private clothes apart from the uniform they use on their normal school days. As part of the commemoration learners were reminded on whatever took place in 1960 in the form of different activities like playing 30 seconds game, having a quiz and also watching the movie entitled Million Colours.

Towards the end of the function the school had to chose the most dressed female and male of the day which spiced up the occasion.
